MT1 Reflection
December 5, 2015
What
happened? What went well? What was an
area of weakness? MT1 was definitely a learning experience. Since I was sick when everyone else did
theirs I had to improvise and have my classroom at my father’s law firm. Overall, I think my student understood that
you can’t tell how something is organic by just sight, smell and taste. In fact, you have to have faith in the
certifier that allowed the farmer to put the “certified organic” sticker on
their produce or you must know what the produce was grown in. My area of weakness was not allowing myself
enough time to really know my lines before filming.
What
objectives were met? What is the evidence? Which students did not meet the
objectives? Which students exceeded
objectives? Why? The objective was to
understand what organic is and that objective was met. The evidence was driven home with the hook
when I asked “can you tell which is organic by just sight or taste” and my
student answered “no”.
What
was learned from this experience?
Evidence of teacher candidate learning.
I was prepared to teach the lesson but wasn’t prepared to be teaching
while being videoed.
How
will this experience influence my professional identity? I learned from this
experience and improved upon seen in my MT2. I was better prepared.
How
will it influence how I plan/teach/assess in the future? I don’t foresee myself being filmed while
teaching in my professional career. But
reading over the lesson a few times doesn’t hurt.
